City Champs

Last night in the Blazerdome the boys basketball team faced off with their nemesis Northwood in the City Championship. The night started off with Isiah Bryd bustin a jumper from deep. The game was an intense defensive battle. Both teams came to play. Led by Cole, Isiah, Richie, Colby and Harman the boys battled all night. Northwood was able to cut the lead to three in the second half. With just minutes to go Colby took over, stealing pass after pass and converting the turnovers into points. Richie hit two freethrows in a row, followed by another two by Isiah to seal the deal. The Blazers who led from the opening tip to the final buzzer took home the City Championship with a score of 33-22. The coaches are so proud of every member of the team for doing their part. We are not done yet the boys will be searching for a District championship next week at Herman highschool. Go Blazers.

Game 1

Our first regular season game was played tonight at Southwood school. We came out fast but the determined Southwood team stuck around until the end. In the end it was a win for the Blazers but not an easy one. The boys fought hard and adapted to a difficult gym to play in. Tonight was a reminder that anything can happen.

A note to parents, Coach Trocchi and myself have busy families and need players to be picked up immediately after games and practices. We do not want to be waiting around. Some players will be asked to only play home games to ensure this will not happen again. Thank you the Coaches.L

Blazer Invitational Day 1

Last night in the Blazerdome the boys basketball team tipped off their 2012 season in fine fashion. They made short work of all three teams going a perfect 3-0 in pool play to advance to Tuesday's championship round. Special mention goes out to Adam S for his strong defensive play, Colby S for his aggressive rebounding and explosive intensity and to Adam Y for his impressive low post dominance. Way to go boys. There will be practice today at first nutrition break.
